Once inside your Kapwing workspace, you can access the Subtitler by clicking the Subtitles button in the menu on the left. Next, upload your video file by clicking the Upload Button or you can simply paste a link from an existing online video, like a YouTube link. Now you're inside the Subtitler tool. You'll see your video preview, some text options, but let's first focus our attention into the Add subtitles area. Next, simply click on the Auto-generate button and then select the native language featured in your video (if needed you can select to transcribe the video into subtitles for another language). Click Auto-generate. Kapwing will process your video, extract the audio and transcribe it. Once that process is finished, you'll now see the subtitles displayed on screen. Go ahead and click on the play button to playback the video to see how well the AI did at transcribing the audio and if any edits need to be made. If you notice any errors, do not to worry, you can easily edit the text and the timing of the subtitles. You can also edit the styling of the subtitles, like the text size, font selection, text color etc., but let's first direct our attention to editing our subtitles. You'll go simply listen, review, and edit your subtitles exactly like you'd edit a Word document. If you need to add a subtitle, you can click on Add Subtitle, add your new text and use the time stamps to properly time out when your new subtitle begins and ends. If you need to remove or duplicate a subtitle, simply click on either the Remove or Duplicate button. Now that you have your subtitles properly edited and timed out, you can focus your attention to the Text Options panel to stylize the new subtitles. You can choose from a variety of formatting options to customize your subtitles, but at the end of the day just make sure it's readable. And should you need to upload transcripts or import subtitles into another software, you can download the .SRT file. Now that you have the subtitles customized to your liking, play it back to review. If you are pleased, click on the Done button which will take you into the Kapwing Studio where you can perform further editing tasks such as trimming the clip and adding graphics, to name a few. When you're finished, click on Export Video.
