How To Make Audio Waveform Video for FREE
In this article, we'll teach you how to make an audio waveform video for free in 2022. An audio waveform video is also called an audiogram. It's basically an audio or video clip that functions as a social media promotional content piece. It allows you to convert recorded audio into a valuable piece of content for something that would otherwise have no face value.
An audiogram is basically an audio visualizer showing the waveform bouncing up and down according to whatever is being said. It’s a pretty cool effect and if you have some audio content like a podcast or a phone call recording then this is one way you can repurpose that audio into a video asset.

The Power of an Audiogram
A podcast audiogram is an audio clip that functions as a valuable social media content piece. A recent study suggests on Facebook audiograms outperform image posts by 58%. And when an audiogram is coupled with captions it can increase content consumption to 85%. Those are great engagement rates!
We will walk you through how to make an audiogram inside an online application called Kapwing. Click here to create your FREE Kapwing account. Your audiogram can be turned into a valuable piece of content with good aesthetic value and appeal that people will want to engage with because it looks really credible.
How To Create Audiogram
Create your free Kapwing account.
Enter Kapwing and go to My Workspace.
Click the New Content button.
Click Start with Blank Canvas.
Click on Background Color and choose the color of your liking.
Next, add your logo. Click Add Media to Upload your logo. If you need to remove a background from your logo, click on your logo, then click on Erase on the right side of the screen, this will launch the Erase tool. Make sure that you have the magic wand selected and click into the background of your logo and it should turn gray. Then click on Remove Pixels and it will remove the background of your logo. Click Done when finished and you can see your logo without the white background.
Click on Lock Ratio that way when you resize the logo all the proportions stay the same.
Drag and move your logo to the top of your screen.
Next, add a piece of text content that will summarize the purpose of your audiogram. Click on Text and choose a font. Type in the content that you would like to have displayed on your audiogram. Click Lock Ratio on your text and use the handles to move your text directly under your logo.
Now you’re ready to bring in your recorded audio. Click on Media, click Add Media, Click to Upload, then add the file that you’d like to add. Once it is uploaded, click on the plus icon to add it to the project. You should now see the audio file on a timeline on your screen.
Trim the audio recording to fit the purpose of your audiogram. Once your audio recording is trimmed, drag it to the beginning of your timeline.
Now with your audio layer selected, click onto Convert Waveform. When you do this, the audio will automatically start playing and applying the waveform effect.
You can choose between 2 types of waveform styles that are offered within Kapwing. You can also change the color of your Waveform.
To really increase engagement, now you should add subtitles to this content. When people are watching this on social media, 85% of the time they are watching videos without sound so you need subtitles. Make sure that your audio layer is selected and click on the button that says Subtitles on the top of your screen. Kapwing offers an auto subtitle tool which will auto generate subtitles onto your video. Click the Auto Generate button, select your language and then click auto generate. You can remove the background from your subtitles, edit your subtitles, change the color of your subtitles and move the subtitles. You may wish to move your subtitles just a bit from the bottom of your screen, close to the waveform, so that it can be seen despite the progress bar in social media players.
Click Done once your subtitles are edited to your liking and your project is just about complete. Hit the play button to make sure that you’re happy with it and then click Export Video. Kapwing will output it into an actual file that you can download, you can copy the link to share it on social media or you can grab an embed link and embed this onto a website.
